Black, white and hot pink, Paris themed jewelry armoire

Thisis a pretty cool piece if I do say so... It is definitely a one of a kind.

I used hot pink, black and Paris stencils.  The writing stencils are a love letter written in French script.
The handles on the inside drawers are all bling crystal knobs and the bottom two bigger drawers have antique Chippendale handles that are painted silver, like the handles on the front doors.
The top has stencils, as well as inside the top with a mirror and a few cute little charms in the corners.

The drawers are lined with a really cool Paris pin up fabric and the inside or the doors are lined with a Paris themed fabric as well. They also have hooks on either side to hang your necklaces from.

It's a one of a kind stand out conversational piece for sure.

Black dresser, grey top, stenciled with writing and harlequin

Love love this one! And I got it for $20, whoop whoop!

I tried out my new spray gun on it at first with the first coat of black, but I wasn't a fan, I think it's because I returned the nice one my dad got me for this cheapo one.  But I wasn't ready to use the whole air compressor and everything.
I ended up just painting on the second coat and spray painting the drawers and handles. I really love the way the white looks on the grey and vise versa.
I was dying to use the writing stencil again, since I used it on this jewelry armoire that I have yet to show you, because it needed so much help from dad.
Everything turned it great in the end I think this was the first project here I really didn't have too many mess ups.....that is until yesterday when the part that wasn't covered got some spray paint o it, but it was on the bottom black part so it was an easy fix.
The drawers did take quite a while though, because of how old they were.  There were cracks that had to be filled and I think I sanded them like 4 times including after the undercoat, because they were so ruff.

But again in the end...viola I like it.
I think it always turns out that way in the end, because I will redo it and want stop it I live it :)

"Keep calm and carry on" red, black and white pin strip dresser

This dresser was a pain in the butt, but totally worth all the time.
I had to redo the strips 3 times I think, because they kept bleeding under the tape...and yes I used the "extraordinary" frog tape lol. But I think the problem was that I used spray paint as the base.

To get them so straight and crisp. I had to paint it all white....use the lighter color first....then tape it off, then paint white over it again to seal any holes, then the black. And it came out great.

It's funny, because usually the dresser part is done and its the drawers that I am having issues with, or the handles.  But with this one he handles and drawers had been spray painted and clear coated for almost two weeks before I finished the actual dresser.

My favorite part was doing the stencil on top!  I have truly come to love stencils. I want to stencil everything and pretty much have lol. Including my dads kitchen cabinets, which I probably shouldn't have started till after this antique craft fair that I am doing in Topanga, because now there are two doors done and that's it. And after finishing the black and white secretary desk I really want to paint parts of the top white but that will take even longer. Ugh!
Anyway here is the beautiful bright outcome of the "Keep Calm" dresser.

Black and white painted & stenciled secretary desk.

Finally finished after a coat of primers 4 coats of paint...because I changed my mind and wanted white on the top and in the front so I had to tape and paint over the black twice.
Oh and don't forget all the sanding that came before lol.

Then there was the painting the drawers inside and fixing the slates they slide into so they wouldn't stick.

Of course the stenciling and more stenciling. And finally the top coat of semi gloss poly which requires 3 coats...2 hours in between each coat....lucky I am working on 3 other projects lol

But here it is ready for someone else's happy home.

Progress in stencils

So I know I haven't posted in a while....it's because I m working on 4 different things right now, but I thought I would post some pics of the progress.  Here a before look at the desk.

The secretary desk was supposed to be done yesterday, but when it was put altogether it just didn't look right and I still have to decide what I am putting on the front.  I kinda want to use the mermaid type stencil I used for the antique green, teal and white one I did, but I feel like it needs something simple, but it still needs more white added. Here's the side and the drawers are white with the same stencil only in black.
???? I am fighting myself on this one...I kinda want to add a quote, saying or word of some sort to the front, but I get nervous that if I use the wrong quote of saying that it will turn buyers away.????
Any advice or cool quotes you can thing of?

So the other things I am working on st the moment is a very cool jewelry armoire, that wasn't going to be pairs themed like the other, but I couldn't help myself....it's black, white and hot pink with chrome handles, some vintage handles painted in chrome and some crystal knobs. With my very own Mr fixit Dad this pice s almost there...wouldn't have been able to do it without him! Thank you dad!
Side

Front doors
...and the next that I have been working on is a long French provincial that I luckily fund for cheap, and I keep looking for more like it, because that's the style that's seems to be the big demand!
It's 9 drawers, white three small in the middle, with one handle missing of course that I can't find anywhere. The whole thing is painted black, except I changed the top to grey and the drawers are white, and will have grey handles.
I plan to stencil the top with the French writing script I have in white and possibly some black as well. The top drawers are stenciled with small diamonds and I think I am going to wait to see the the top done and what the handles look like on it before I decide whether I want toads anything to the bottom drawers.

There's one more too. It's a smaller dresser with three drawers that have been done for forever. The rest is a flat black with a red and white keep "calm and carry on" quote on top. My problem with this one is that I am trying to add black and white pin  strips down the sides...I've done them twice and did not like the result, I think it is because I had the spray paint. The darker color as the bass.
This is the top

I have a big ole list of things to do today, which I know I won't finish all of them, but the 5th, and actually 6th AND 7th projects are custom orders. One was placed on etsy for the French provincial set I have and the other two were brought over by people that just wanted me to paint their furniture a certain style. I keep going from EXCITED to SCARED!  I'm so excited this seems to be hitting off, but scared that it is just happening right now and old slow down also scared that I can make enough money,go to school and finish the projects in a timely manner. And...scared that my dads house is being over run with furniture.  :/ but its getting there and that is excited. Also I'm not messing up and having to redo quite as much as before which is definitely good for the budget.

I'll definitely out more posts up when the furniture is all done.

Thanks...also we have our own website up and running...still working on it but check us out from time to time.

Ready to make my own stencils

Stencils are ridiculous expensive....so instead I decided to buy a stencil maker eclectic silhouette cameo. I have yet to make my own stencils, because I have been one busy bee...

Never mind all the mess ups, but I am working on a website with Casey.  We have our own domain now. It's trillion the works, but check it out now and then.... Roguerosereproductions.com

Another new project that I am still covered in paint from....I got a spray gun. It is a grace project spray gun. It works pretty good and doesn't need an air compressor, but I had Casey clean it and she was on the house for a half an hour so I don't know how productive it may or may not turn out to be. I  think I did too many projects at once and that's why it was so hard to clean,...all the paint had dried in the sprayer.  :( but hey it was my first time. Hopefully the next time will be better, which would be, but it is raining....I'm July....in Southern California!?!

Anyway I will update with pictures when I get all these things figured out.....until then....good afternoon, good evening and good night all :D

New distressing vintage look without stain using stencils and paint.

When I first started distressing. I felt that you could really achieve a cohesive look with out the use of stain, but this project and the small little cottage chic side table I didn't use stain and they both came out beautiful.
The benefit of not using the stain is that it doesn't change the color of the paint that you have going....the downfall in my opinion is that you don't get the mixture of color like you do when you do use stain.
This piece was painted with natural linen and the drawers were painted in awhite primer and then willow blue from bear paints. My friend Casey my pattern in this to be furniture business did all the distressing to the drawers herself, I was very impressed. Sometimes your first go at distressing you can go too far or too little....just a tip if you are distressing for the first time I would go too little first. You can always distress more, but its a pain or a total redo if you distress too much.
I like the look on the drawers, because of the white under the blue showing through here and there.

I added some new stencils I got....the writing on top, which was at first just in brown, but I though it needed more blue to go with the drawers. The drawers are stenciled with an old stamp looking thing that has a crown in it....that's why I added the crown to the top.

The handles are all original to the desk, but I cleaned and sprayed them brown. The vintage brass they were before probably would have worked, except that I had already primed them thinking that I was going to be painting them an off white, but I think the brown works great.

Then of course to finish it off we painted the inside of the drawers brown and the bottoms will be lined with a beige cool map like scrapbook inch paper, but kinks wasn't coping right so I have to copy from home and hope that ones out right...no refund on prints at home lol. After the insider of the drawers we waxed three times and tada a nice smooth beautifully vintages desk.

New Paris shabby chic jewelry armoire.

I am just really excited to show this jewelry armoire I did.  It was a first for me. And I love it. There was definitely a very flubs on the way, but it came out great.
Addy rose posing next to mommies work

This was the first to,e I used chalk paint the semi real way...I still made my own with plaster of Paris, but I didn't sand first. The paint had a builtin primer so I just wiped it down with some gloss remover and painted. The only thing is, when you go to distress be careful, because before the wax coating goes on it can be difficult and chucks can come off while sanding.

On the sides of the dresser added stencils, as well as the top and doors all before stenciling, but I'm a doofus and I put one of the stencils I did on the inside of the top upside down ....
I also added paper to the inside of the door, and behind the mirror...and guess what I put one of those on upside down too...when will I learn?

Once I had all the paper glued and stenciled I waxed and waxed away. I also added these handles to the drawers which didn't have any, and more decorative ones on the front...which I have to whip out the metal saw to get one of the knows off, because the other one was broken.  That was pretty hilarious lol.

After all waxing I added the pull, handles and hinges. Also two areas to hang necklaces and such from. I love it so very much!
